Lalu Sonia friends no more!!!

The Congress top leadership is furious after what it sees is a betrayal by one of its closest and most reliable allies, Lalu Yadav.

Once one of Sonia Gandhi's most vocal supporters, Lalu Yadav carved Bihar between Paswan and himself, leaving the Congress with just three seats.

Upset, the party which till Monday wanted nine seats in Bihar now will contest over double that. So, how badly have the ties been affected and how will it impact any post poll alliance.

Sonia Gandhi and Lalu Yadav have had a falling out. That's because earlier today Lalu and Paswan cut the congress to size.

They split the 40 seats amongst themselves leaving only three for the Congress. Within hours Paswan who got 12 seats quickly washed his hands of seat-sharing exercise.

"It was Lalu who talked with the Congress over seat sharing only he knows why Congress has few seats," said Ram Vilas Paswan, Leader, LJP.

The Congress is furious with Lalu, its closest and most reliable ally accusing him of betraying Sonia Gandhi with whom he enjoyed a good rapport.

"I have been saying that Laluji is the first one to say she is the Bahu of the country not only publically but in Parliament as regard to the love and respect that he (Lalu) has given Congressmen are grateful but so much sincerity and reality with Lalu's party we also expect honourably some settlement should have been done. That has not been done and he says now I do not think we can reach out to Lalu and Paswan," said Sushil Kumar Shinde, Union Power Minister.

A possible source of the tension was presence of Lalu Yadav's brother-in-law Sadhu Yadav by Shinde's side. Sadhu who defected to the Congress because he wasn't getting the constituency of his choice.
